Today's Gift
Fear
Sometimes we think fear ought to be classed with stealing. It seems to
cause more trouble. We reviewed our fears thoroughly. We put them
on paper, even though we had no resentment in connection with them.
We asked ourselves why we had them. Wasn’t it because self-reliance failed us?
Self-reliance was good as far as it went, but it didn’t go far enough.

Time to grow
Growth is the only evidence of life. ~John, Cardinal Newman
We should be thankful we can never reach complete serenity. If we could, we would never have the need to improve ourselves. We would stop growing, because there would be no reason to learn any more than we already know, and we would become bored. Even the things which seem so serene in nature usually contain a struggle within. A lake, with a swan gliding slowly across it, seems a perfect picture of serenity. But, unseen below the surface, fish, turtles, and frogs struggle each day for survival.
The important thing is to accept the struggles as a part of the beauty of life, not as blemishes on it.
What struggles shall help me grow better today?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue, An everlasting vision of the ever changing view, A wondrous woven magic in bits of blue and gold, A tapestry to feel and see, impossible to hold. —Carole King
Our lives are patchwork quilts of mismatched fabrics, all stitched together by an invisible seamstress. The tattered, blood-red scraps of quarrels, the beige of pastry crust baked on Saturdays in a grandmother's kitchen that always smelled sweet, the brilliant colors of our happy moments-picnics and sunsets and laughter-all these are necessary pieces of the tapestry of our lives, even our cold, white doubts and emptiness.
All the colors of life sewn together with the green thread of growth. We are a mixture of feelings and experiences. Often, we want to cut away a square of painful memory. But without it, our quilt would lose its beauty, for contrast would disappear. If a piece is removed, the rest is weakened and incomplete.
Action for the Day: I will accept any pain I feel today as a part of my own beauty.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
Time to grow
by Ralph Marston
If you’re satisfied with your life, it’s time to grow. If you’re dissatisfied with your life, it’s time to grow.
There is within you a unique concept of wholeness and fulfillment that has not been fully realized. Whatever successes you’ve had, whatever challenges you face, it’s time to grow.
Step a small distance away, and observe yourself as another person would see you. Is every action you see, fully in line with the person you desire, deep inside, to be?
Most likely, there’s a lot of room to grow, and that’s a very good thing. Because now, today, it’s time to grow.
Everything you do, every situation you encounter, every relationship, every experience, can contribute to that growth. As a priceless bonus to all you do, you can make life ever more meaningful.
Seize the opportunity that’s always available, that’s always enriching. Remember when making each choice, it’s time to grow.
