Today's Gift
We defeat ourselves with labels. We hem ourselves in; we shorten our vision; we cut off opportunities in the making. We influence how others think of us, too. Someone wise said that we teach others how to treat us. Are we teaching people to expect nothing great from us because we are always afraid? Do we shatter their vision of our potential by never thinking we can handle what may come?
We become the persons we have programmed ourselves to be. We can revamp the program, anytime. And right now is a good time to begin. We are surrounded by persons who have done just that.
It's time for praise. We are all that we need to be, and more. We will be helped to do all we are asked to do. We have an inner beauty that only needs encouragement to shine forth. If we smile from within today, we will free ourselves from our negative cages. A new life awaits us.
To catch myself each time I insult myself will be a challenge, but one worth taking on. And it's one I can win!

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
It is just as easy to think “I can” as it is to think “I can’t.” Both attitudes are habitual orientations to life that can become automatic with practice. Neither attitude has as much to do with the task at hand as it does with the inner spirit of the person facing the task. In either case, the task is the same—only the attitude is different.
But what a difference! The “I can” people are the ones we want to spend time with and to use as models. These are the people who either have never lost, or have worked to regain the positive outlook we are all born with. It never occurs to a baby, for example, that all that staggering and falling means he or she will never learn to walk. Babies grow, move forward, succeed. They haven’t learned to hang back or fear defeat. Knee-jerk negativity is something we can all do without. Let’s backtrack to that time in our lives when all things were possible…because they still are.
Action for the Day: Today, I will focus on my successes. “I can” is my credo.

One Day At A Time
All A.A. progress can be reckoned in terms of just two words: humility and responsibility.
Our whole spiritual development can be accurately measured by our degree of adherence
to these magnificent standards. Ever deepening humility, accompanied by an ever greater
willingness to accept and to act upon clear cut obligations—these are truly our touchstones
for all growth in the life of the spirit. They hold up to us the very essence of right being and
right doing. It is by them that we are enabled to find and to do our Higher Power's will.
- As Bill Sees It, (A.A. In Two Words) p. 271
Thought to Ponder
Learning is the very essence of humility; the two walk hand in hand.

See yourself clearly***************************Daily MotivationExcerpt of The Daily Motivator
by Ralph Marston
Be strong enough to question yourself. Be honest enough to answer.
Be humble enough to see that you’re wrong. Be confident enough to know when you’re right.
There’s one person in your life you cannot escape. That person is you, and it’s a good idea to see yourself clearly.
Treat yourself with respect and also with a healthy skepticism. Just because you’re you doesn’t make you infallible.
But it doesn’t make you mistaken all the time either. Give yourself the benefit of a sober and balanced opinion of yourself.
You don’t have all the answers, but you do have some. And that’s enough to keep you growing, learning, and moving forward through the extraordinary life you have.
