Today's Gift
Through spontaneity we are reformed into ourselves. Freed from handed-down frames of reference, spontaneity becomes the moment of personal freedom when we are faced with a reality, explore it, and act accordingly. —Viola Spolin
Living in the here and the now opens up untold possibilities for new growth. Our inner self is enticed in new directions when our attention is fully in the present. When our minds are still on last night's argument or tomorrow's board meeting, we wear blinders to the activity at hand. And the Universe, as our teacher and protector, resides in this experience, in the hearts of these people present.
Every single moment has something for us. Maybe a new piece of information. A piece that solves a problem that's been puzzling us. Perhaps a chance to make a new friend, one who will be there in a time of need.
Letting go of yesterday frees us. We need not be burdened. It is gone. Our lives could be eased, so much, if we kept our focus on the experience at hand, where the problems we ponder have their solutions. Always.
I will greet today, skipping, smiling, ready for the answers, the truths, the directions meant only for me. The wonders of today will bless me.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
In the fairy tale The Last Dream of the Old Oak Tree, the oak tree felt sorry for the day-fly. The day-fly only lives for one day, and the tree was already 365 years old. But the day-fly was so enjoying their one day that the tree’s sympathy puzzled them. The day-fly said to the tree, "You may have thousands of my days, but l have thousands of moments to be pleased and happy in."
And so the day-fly continued to dance in the sun and smell the clover and honeysuckle. Their day ended as happily as they spent it, and they settled down on a blade of grass.
If all of us could approach our day the way the day-fly does, as though this were our only day, we would spend less time worrying about yesterday and tomorrow.
Action for the Day: I will show my gratitude for the gifts of this day.

One Day At A Time
If you ask them why they started on that last bender, the chances are they will
offer you any one of a hundred alibis. Sometimes these excuses have a certain
plausibility, but none of them really makes sense in the light of the havoc an
alcoholic’s drinking bout creates. They sound like the philosophy of the person who,
having a headache, beats them self on the head with a hammer so that they can’t feel
the ache. If you draw this fallacious reasoning to the attention of an alcoholic,
they will laugh it off, or become irritated and refuse to talk.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over; and expecting different results.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
Be okay with that
by Ralph Marston
There are people who do not understand you. Be okay with that, and then work in a positive way to encourage more understanding.
There are things that will happen to set you back. Be okay with that, and be ready to quickly recover from the disappointments.
Life is not always fair. Be okay with that, find the beauty anyway, and do all you can to offer genuine compassion to those who suffer from unfairness.
This day may not turn out exactly the way you planned. Be okay with that, and make use of it to create new value anyway.
You may not like what has already happened, but there’s nothing you can do to change the past. Your best strategy is to let it be what it has been, to be okay with it, and to move toward the future you wish to create.
Invest your time and energy in new positive efforts where they will make a difference, not in bitterness about whatever has come before. Be okay with the way things are, and be in a position to make them much better.
