Today's Gift
We learn as we go, and the path is formed by walking on it. Establishing regular reinforcing positive practices is important consciousness work. If we were to make a list of all the self-nurturing actions we engage in on a daily or weekly basis, what might we find? While many of us regularly practice some forms of self-discipline, we may not be doing this consciously or seeking to expand and refine our focus.
In all areas of life—whether eating, exercising, doing something creative, being in our living space, or engaging in our work life—we have to invest in order to be our best. Each new day can be a reminder to love ourselves in this way. It takes time, energy, and a deep commitment to improve. Lofty goals can provide inspiration, but it is through the perspiration of daily discipline that we manifest them. It is the bridge, the gateway, the portal, the channel through which we gradually live into the life we deeply desire. We can begin with small steps in any important arena, and then adjust and redefine as we go. Paying regular attention to the various habits included in our self-discipline toolbox is one of the most important aspects of loving ourselves and supporting our personal evolution.
My daily choices are made easier when I stick to routines and behaviors that serve me well.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
How we think about the activities before us is very important. If we think cleaning the garage is hard, dirty, and no chance for fun, that's just how it will feel. We'll be tired before we even begin. However, if we approach it like a treasure hunt, expecting to rediscover some long-forgotten treasures, we'll enjoy the task. In fact, it will feel like a game.
The thoughts we carry in our minds determine whether our tasks are fun or not. What good fortune it is that we can control those thoughts. If we approach an assignment for school or a job believing that we're able to do it, that it's not too hard for us, we'll finish with ease. Our thoughts determine our successes. In this way, our lives are in our own hands.

One Day At A Time
Change
No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how
our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and
self-pity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and
gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole
attitude and outlook upon life will change.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
by Ralph Marston
You cannot see or touch or be shoved into a ditch by disappointment. Its power is only what you make of it, only what you allow it to be.
So make of each disappointment the very best you possibly can. When disappointment comes, take control of it rather than allowing it to take control of you.
The seeds of great achievements are often planted in the midst of tragic disappointments. There is a raw energy in every disappointment that can be focused in any direction you choose. It can bring you way, way down if you let it. Or you can grab hold of that energy and ride it steadily upward toward whatever goal you seek.
Even when the results you achieve are not the results you were after, you’ve nonetheless taken a significant step forward. You have, after all, achieved results. Getting the results you desire then becomes a matter of making experienced adjustments to your approach. Grab the energy, the knowledge and the experience of each disappointment to lead you surely, steadily and successfully toward where you wish to go.
