Today's Gift
Where there is no strife there is decay: "The mixture which is not shaken decomposes." —Heraclitus
Transitions and changes are often painful, sometimes frightening. Often the most troubled lives are those most unyielding to change. When we become so committed to stability that we cannot flow with the never- ending river of life, we wither and die spiritually. Every one of us has changes moving within our lives. Some changes are beneath the surface and we only vaguely sense them. Others are obvious and we are dealing with their effects. When we see change only as a problem or as pain, we have a harder time getting on with our lives.
Looking back, we can see other changes we would never have chosen or planned for ourselves. We can see now that we grew with them. Change forced us into new realms, and we found sides of ourselves we hadn't known before. Through whatever strife and difficulty of change we face today, we have a stable support system to fall back on. And we have our relationship with our Higher Power, which is with us through all times.
I will try to have a lighter grip upon life today so that as the river of change flows, I can flow with it.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
At times, despair, sadness, and hopelessness fill us. None of us will get out of this world without experiencing tragedy. At these times, we turn to our Higher Power and the spiritual principles as guides. At these times especially, we turn to the fellowship. We are here to help each other, comfort each other, and offer sanctuary to each other. We are to be each other’s gifts.
During our active addiction, when troubles came, we turned inward, pretending everything was okay. We acted as if we needed no one—mainly because we trusted no one. We were surrounded by darkness, inside and out. Recovery teaches us to trust in the “light,” to believe it is there even when we can’t see it. It may be as close as our next meeting or a phone call to our sponsor. In this, we must believe deeply.
Prayer for the Day: Higher Power, I look to you when I can’t see. Show me the light. I look to you for the guidance I cannot give myself. Show me the way and give me hope. Higher Power, thank you!
Today's Action: Today I will remember a time during my active addiction when I felt hopeless. I will reflect on what I learned from this and share my thoughts with a recovery friend.

One Day At A Time
Having so considered our day, not omitting to take due
note of things well done, and having searched our hearts
with neither fear nor favor, we can truly thank our Higher Power for the
blessings we have received and sleep in good conscience.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
by Ralph Marston
Don’t ignore your limitations. Understand them, learn from them, and you’ll find ways to get around them.
The force of gravity is a serious limitation when attempting to launch a rocket into orbit. Yet by precisely understanding how gravity works, scientists and engineers can build a rocket that will successfully reach outer space.
It’s tempting to just complain about your limitations, or see them as excuses for lowering your expectations. But you always have a better choice.
That choice is to learn, to understand, to innovate, to adapt. Within whatever is holding you back are very specific truths and strategies for moving forward.
Limitations abound with useful facts, some already known, others waiting to be discovered. As you learn and apply those facts, the limitations lose their power to limit you.
Look to your limitations for knowledge, strategies, and inspiration. And engage your miraculous ingenuity to get beyond whatever holds you back.
