Today's Gift
Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content. —Helen Keller
There is wonder in the moment, if we but look for it, let it touch us, believe in it. And with the recognition and celebration of the wonder comes the joy we desire and await.
Being wholly in tune with the present moment is how we'll come to know the spiritual essence that connects all of life. We search for peace, happiness, and contentment outside of ourselves. We need instead to discover it within us, now and always, in whatever we are experiencing.
We can let our experiences wash over us. Longing for a different time, a distant place, a new situation breed's discontent. It prevents us from the thrill, the gifts offered in this present moment. But they are there.
We can practice feeling joyful in the present, be thrilled with the realization that right now, all is well. All is always well. Life is full of mystery and wonder and each moment of our awareness adds to the wonder.
I am moving forward; we all are. I am on target. I am participating in a glorious, wonderful drama. Let me jump for joy. I have been specially blessed.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
Every night the river sings a new song. ~Eva-Lis Wvorie
Ours is a program of twenty-four hours. We are to live “One day at a time.” We are to live in the moment, for only in the moment can we connect with our Higher Power. How? By bringing life to the spiritual principles our Higher Power has given to us. By choice.
By choosing to live by spiritual principles, moment by moment, we stay connected to our Higher Power. We work to keep the channel open in order to receive the gifts our Higher Power wants us to embrace. To stay open and to live by spiritual principles is hard. Our instinctual side wants us to take the easier, softer way. In addition, we addicts are afraid of the future. We tend to focus on the entire journey instead of what is right in front of our face.
But our recovery program tells us, “Just today, live by spiritual principles today.” Focus on today’s song, for tomorrow life will teach you a new song.
Prayer for the Day: Higher Power, help me to live by the spiritual principles you gave me through recovery. Help me to learn your lessons and help me stay open to the gifts they will give to me.
Today's Action: Today I will work to be mindful of the moment and to see choice in the moment. I’ll work to remember that the quality of my life depends on the choices I make.

One Day At A Time
Hence it was most evident that a solitary self-appraisal, and the
admission of our defects based upon that alone, wouldn't be nearly
enough. We'd have to have outside help if we were surely to know
and admit the truth about ourselves—the help of our Higher Power and another
human being. Only by discussing ourselves, holding back nothing,
only by being willing to take advice and accept direction could we set
foot on the road to straight thinking, solid honesty, and genuine humility.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
by Ralph Marston
The value of a vision does not depend on how practical it is. The value of a vision is in how meaningful it is.
The value of a story is not in how factual it is. The value of a story is in how inspiring it is.
The value of a dream is not in whether you achieve it or not. The value of a dream is in the person you become, the life you live, in pursuit of that dream.
It’s fine that your dream is impossible, as long as it is compelling. It’s perfectly okay that your story gets the facts wrong, as long as you get the truth right.
Within you, there are no rules, no constraints on what you can imagine, and feel, and love. No limits exist on the magnificent castles you can build with such freedom.
The richness you nurture within, also finds its way out into your life, into your world. Envision, imagine, dream, love, without restraint, and be stronger, inspired, and highly motivated in everything you do.
