Today's Gift

Fortunately psycho]analysis is not the only way to resolve inner conflicts. Life itself still remains a very effective therapist. —Karen Horney

The passage of time, coupled with an openness to the messages gleaned from our conversations with others, can provide answers we need for the way out of painful situations. Life is ebb and flow, peaks and valleys, struggles and sweet times. What we fail to realize, all too often, is that the struggles make possible the times that are sweet.

Our conflicts are our special lessons in life. We can learn to flow with them, move through them, trust their value to us as a growing, changing person. How good it feels to have found security with one another and that power greater than ourselves who can, when we are willing, show us the path to resolution.

Life will never be free of conflict--nor should it be. Our lessons move us to higher planes of awareness. We can experience the joy hidden within the conflict. We can help one another remember that the sweetness of a moment is tied to the pain of a former, forgotten moment.

All events, all experiences, are connected. The path I travel, alone and with others, is bringing me brighter days. I will trust my path. It's right for me.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges. ~Joseph Fort Newton

Communication is much more than words. Words are merely fingers pointing the direction to understanding—they are not understanding itself. To really communicate with someone, we have to allow ourselves, just for a moment, to become that other person. When we do this, we begin to be able to see beyond the masks that hide what another person is really feeling.

When we take the time to really see others, we may discover they are frightened, timid people longing for understanding. When we get beyond reacting to their outward behavior and move toward viewing their inner selves, it is much easier to extend a hand of friendship, to say we care, and truly mean it.

Action for the Day: I will move to see people as they really are today.

One Day At A Time

Self-Searching
There is a solution. Almost none of us liked the self-searching,
the leveling of our pride, the confession of shortcomings which the process
requires for its successful consummation. But we saw that it really worked
in others, and we had come to believe in the hopelessness and futility of life
as we had been living it.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Change for the better
by Ralph Marston

Look at what is, and see more than what’s there. Envision what you can transform it into.

Whatever exists in one moment, will not be exactly the same in the next. Life’s relentless dynamic nature is something you can use to great benefit.

Things will change as the day progresses. What can you do to push those changes in a positive direction?

Don’t waste the moment arguing over what got you here. Invest your time in crafting the best possible path forward.

Every situation is a stage upon which transformation can occur. Every problem, success, encounter, disagreement, windfall and challenge provides an opportunity to improve life in some way.

Look at the beauty and power of what is here, and now, what is real, and present. Soon it will change, and this is your chance to help change it for the better.
