Today's Gift
Let us open our natures, throw wide the doors of our hearts and let in the sunshine of good will and kindness. —O. S. Marden
Kindness is among the gifts we can most easily spread among others. The more we give of kind words and deeds, the more we discover that kindness is like a burning candle which lights many other candles without losing a trace of its own brightness. Our kindnesses are assets, which return unexpected dividends when we invest them in the happiness of others. Kindness is the very basis of love. It softens the most severe anger and gladdens the hardest hearts.
No kindness is too small to win and hold the affection of others because it is made up of gentleness, love, generosity, unselfishness, and caring.
What kindness do I have to offer today?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
Loving others begins with respect.
So many books have been written on how to love that many of us assume we don't know how and maybe will never learn. We can simplify the process, however, by focusing on the Golden Rule. For starters, we can treat others as respectfully as we'd like to be treated. People respond well to respect, and they often pay us respect in return.
Next, let's put the needs of at least one other person ahead of our own today. It's imperative that we do it willingly, not resentfully. We can ask our Higher Power to help us. We'll discover an unexpected benefit; not being self-absorbed, for a change, is really quite refreshing.
Finally, we can ask our Higher Power for freedom from the thinking that keeps us from loving others. Each person who enters our circle of experience today can be loved by us if we are willing to turn to our Higher Power for help.
Loving others is easier if we keep it simple.

One Day At A Time
Step Seven
When ready, we say something like this: "My Creator,
I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad.
I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character
which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows.
Grant me strength, as I go out from here, to do your bidding. Amen."
We have then completed Step Seven.

Thought to Ponder
If I want my Higher Power to remove my character defects,
I'll have to stop doing them.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
Live with kindness
by Ralph Marston
Even a small kindness can have a big impact. Because kindness, once it is given, takes on a life of its own.
Even a small kindness can reach far, far beyond you. Because kindness is multiplied as time goes on.
Do you want to quickly and profoundly change your world for the better? Kindness is a powerful way to make that happen.
No, not every kindness you give will be immediately appreciated or acknowledged or passed along. Yet genuine kindness is impossible to deny, and even when it seems to accomplish nothing, kindness does indeed have an impact.
In fact, the less effective kindness seems to be at first, the longer and more profoundly its power will be felt. For in one way or another, kindness always makes a difference.
Live with kindness and you live with strength, with confidence, with positive effectiveness. Live with kindness and you make your world a better place to be.
