Today's Gift
Action for the Day: Today I will relax and trust my self enough to deal with reality, not my fantasy of what I hoped it would be.
Fellowship
High and low, rich and poor, these are future fellows of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Among them, you will make lifelong friends. You will be bound to them with
new and wonderful ties, for you will escape disaster together and you will
commence shoulder to shoulder your common journey. Then you will know
what it means to give of yourself that others may survive and rediscover life.
You will learn the full meaning of "Love thy neighbor as thyself."
- Alcoholics Anonymous, "A Vision For You," pp. 152 - 153
Thought to Ponder
Life will take on new meaning.

Welcome the problems
In this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all, and it often comes with bitter agony. Perfect relief is not possible except with time. —Abraham Lincoln
Time may or may not heal all wounds. It depends on how we use the time. If we deny our sorrow, or runaway from it, or hope it will just go away by itself, we will be miserable. But if we turn and face it, and express our sadness in healthy ways, somehow we are transformed by the sorrow itself. While the loss is still there, it begins not to hurt so much.
We can express our sadness in many ways. Crying is probably the healthiest means of expressing grief. It's good to cry, even for men, because it releases tension and stress, and we find a little peace afterwards. It is true that tears are healing.
Getting angry and expressing our anger in appropriate, healthy ways also helps to heal wounds of loss, strange as it may seem. Yes, in time and with the courage to express our feelings, our wounds are indeed healed.
What is a healthy way to express my anger at a loss?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
Relax enough to face reality when life twists and turns.
Sometimes in life, no matter how deeply we intend to make the best decisions possible for ourselves, things happen. Relationships end, jobs turn sour, friends wane. For reasons outside our control or understanding, the situation twists and turns into something other than what we bargained for.
Have you been waiting for a situation to revert to what it originally was - or what you hoped it would be when you got in? Are you telling yourself that there's something wrong with you, when the reality is, the situation has changed into something other than what you thought it was? Things often don't go as smoothly as we planned. Sometimes, we need to endure and get through the rough spots. But I'm talking about those grindingly difficult moments when life suddenly twists on us.
These are the times we need to quit torturing ourselves. Let go of what you thought would happen. If life has twisted on you, don't turn on yourself. Don't try to make things be the way they were. Come up to speed. Return to now. Let yourself accept the new situation at hand.
The road isn't always a straight course. Sometimes, even a path with heart unexpectedly twists and turns.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
Welcome the problems
by Ralph Marston
When a problem comes along, the natural reaction is to fight against it. But that kind of response just throws more negative energy on an already difficult situation.
A more positive response is to welcome the problem. See it for what it is, and welcome it into your life. By doing so, you immediately take control. You give yourself the upper hand. You’re not simply reacting against the problem, you’re taking action to deal with it.
If you fight against a problem, it will get you down. By contrast, when you welcome the problem, you put yourself in a much better position to turn it into an opportunity. You demonstrate that you have the confidence to deal with the problem. You open your eyes to the positive possibilities.
When you’re faced with a problem, rather than fighting and lashing out against it, acknowledge and welcome it. That puts you in control and keeps you moving positively forward.
