Today's Gift

Gratitude is a way of life.

Saying thank you from the heart makes us feel full. Perhaps we don't really know we have something until we express our thanks for it.

There are different levels of gratitude. There is the polite, automatic response when someone opens a door for us or the bank teller tells us to have a nice day. Simple, almost perfunctory, these acts of courtesy nevertheless add an element of grace to our daily transactions.

On a more personal level, saying thank you often and sincerely to those we love keeps us from taking each other for granted. We all like to feel appreciated - how many relationships dry up because the people involved don't realize what they have?

Then there is the gratitude we feel toward our Higher Power and the Universe, the sources of all the blessings we enjoy but do not create for ourselves. This thankfulness can be a part of every breath we take. As often as we remember the many gifts of every day, our emptiness is filled.

Today, I will replenish my supply of gratitude.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

The Magic of Gratitude and Acceptance.

Gratitude and acceptance are two magic tricks available to us in life. No matter who we are, where we are, or what we have, gratitude and acceptance work.

We may eventually become so happy that we realize our present circumstances are good. Or we master our present circumstances and then move forward into the next set of circumstances.

If we become stuck, miserable, feeling trapped and hopeless, try gratitude and acceptance. If we have tried unsuccessfully to alter our present circumstances and have begun to feel like we're beating our head against a brick wall, try gratitude and acceptance.

If we feel like all is dark and the night will never end, try gratitude and acceptance.
If we feel scared and uncertain, try gratitude and acceptance.

If we've tried everything else and nothing seems to work, try gratitude and acceptance.
If we've been fighting something, try gratitude and acceptance.

When all else fails, go back to the basics.
Gratitude and acceptance work.

Action for the Day: Today, Higher Power, help me let go of my resistance. Help me know the pain of a circumstance will stop hurting so much if I accept it. I will practice the basics of gratitude and acceptance in my life, and for all my present circumstances.

One Day At A Time

Blessings Received
Having so considered our day, not omitting to take due
note of things well done, and having searched our hearts
with neither fear nor favor, we can truly thank our Higher Power for the
blessings we have received and sleep in good conscience.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Ways to be thankful
by Ralph Marston

What you reject and despise, wears you down. What you accept and embrace, and can actually be thankful for, serves to empower you.

You don’t have to completely agree with someone in order to be thankful for that person in your life. Though your current situation is far from perfect, there are many things about it to be thankful for.

Instead of rushing to assign blame or hand out judgments, look for ways to be thankful. Enable yourself to see the positive aspects, the opportunities for value.

Rather than plummeting into frustration, despair, or anger, look for ways to be thankful. Give yourself the advantage of a conscious connection to life’s abundance.

Look for ways to be thankful, and you’ll find ways to pull yourself and your whole world forward. Look for ways to be thankful, and you’ll discover value, beauty, truth, and possibilities that otherwise would be hidden.

Look for ways to be thankful, and you’re doing a whole lot more than just being nice. You’re making the whole of your life, and everyone else’s, a much richer and more rewarding experience.
