Today's Gift

With each new day I put away the past and discover the new beginnings I have been given. —Angela L. Wozniak

We can't recapture what is no more. And the minutes or hours we spend dwelling on what was or should have been only steal away from all that presently is. Today stands before us with promise. The opportunities for growth are guaranteed, as is all the spiritual help we need to handle any situation the day offers.

If today offers us a challenge, we can be grateful. Our challenges are gifts. They mean we are ready to move ahead to new awarenesses, to a new sense of our womanhood. Challenges force us to think creatively; they force us to turn to others; they demand that we change. Without challenges, we'd stagnate, enjoying life little, offering life nothing.

We each are making a special contribution, one that only we can make; each time we confront a new situation with courage. Each time we dare to open a new door. What we need to do today is to close the door on yesterday. Then we can stand ready and willing to go forward.

This day awaits my full presence. I will be the recipient of its gifts.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

All We Have Is Now

We can only live now, this moment. We cannot erase the mistakes we made yesterday or bring back the good times we had. We cannot know what tomorrow will require of us, nor can we ensure future security and happiness. Now is what we have, and now is everything.

We can follow our plan now. We can abstain this moment. We can deal with the problems, which confront us today, as best we can, trusting our Higher Power to guide us. We can be in touch with our Higher Power only in the present.

As we focus on the present moment, we live it deeper, and we derive a satisfaction that we did not know when we were regretting the past and worrying about the future. Whatever happens, now is all I can manage and all I need.

Action for the Day: I will be grateful for this present moment.

One Day At A Time

Step Eleven
"Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with our Higher Power as we understood Them, praying only for knowledge of Their will for us and the power to carry that out."

In Step Eleven we saw that if a Higher Power had restored us to sanity and had
enabled us to live with some peace of mind in a sorely troubled world,
then such a Higher Power was worth knowing better, by as direct contact as possible.

Thought to Ponder
Prayer asks the question. Meditation listens for the answer.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

The ever-present now
by Ralph Marston

Rather than running away from right now, make use of it. There’s no need to rush into the future. There’s no point in retreating into the past. Now is the time you have. It is like nothing that has ever been and like nothing that will ever be. It is indeed a special and unique time and it is yours to live this very moment.

Live it and enjoy it. There’s no sense in being frustrated about what you don’t have right now. Instead, appreciate and make use of what you do have. What you have is enough -- enough to move you in whatever direction you desire to go.

Use each moment fully and sincerely, acting authentically and in harmony with those things you value most. As you do, your most deeply held dreams will easily and naturally unfold. Put your energy into being your best, not into wishing for more or regretting what has gone before.

You can learn from the past, but you cannot gain anything from living there. You can work and plan and build for the future, but you cannot live or enjoy your life there. The time to live, the time to drink in life’s joys, is the present moment. Even the joys of the past and the best hopes for the future exist within you right now.

Now is your moment. Now is your life, and it is filled with beautiful, joyful possibilities. Live it, experience it, and make the most of it in the ever-present now.
