Today's Gift

Take time every day to do something silly —Philipa Walker

Spring fever may bring out our longings and our sense of unfilled needs for attention, play, or laughter. We may be afraid to express these needs because they are not often taken seriously, but thought of as childish. We may even be afraid our needs are so enormous that they will never be satisfied, and so we keep them bottled up inside ourselves, and all we can express to others is frustration.

Spring is a reminder that we can find a way to satisfy our needs. We can give ourselves a break from work or study, laugh a little, and try to share our laughter with someone else. There are many ways to fulfill a need, and by giving what we have to offer, we may find ourselves getting back exactly what we really need, even though it may not be what we had hoped for.

In the act of giving we learn we are worth giving to also. We learn that we deserve to be loved, most of all by ourselves.

What do I think I need today?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple

Happiness is a decision.

We came into this program desperate for help and perhaps solace too. We were more painful than most. Seeing all the smiles and hearing the laughter of the women and men at the meetings convinced us we were right! Fortunately, we have stuck around long enough to understand where their smiles and laughter are coming from.

The Twelve Steps are suggestions for living one day at a time. When we let the Steps guide our thinking and our actions, we discover that life doesn't have to be painful. Thinking and acting are fully in our control. Staying close to the program can bring us happiness.

Today's Action: I will set a good example for someone else today. I will be living proof of the maxim "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

One Day At A Time

Take Inventory
Once we have a complete willingness to take inventory, and exert
ourselves to do the job thoroughly, a wonderful light falls upon this
foggy scene. As we persist, a brand-new kind of confidence is born,
and the sense of relief at finally facing ourselves is indescribable.
These are the first fruits of Step Four.

Thought to Ponder
Clear vision for tomorrow comes only after a real look at yesterday.

Daily Motivation

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
You deserve joy
by Ralph Marston

You deserve much joy in life. Now, give yourself that joy by giving love, encouragement, understanding and kindness to others.

Let go of the need for cheap, predictable, contrived drama. Make room for rich, authentic, fulfilling joy.

Open yourself to all the possibilities for elevating your life and the lives of others. Allow your actions, your caring, your joy to bring those possibilities into reality.

You deserve to live in joy, and so do all those around you. It is certainly not a free ride, yet it is well within your ability to create.

Feel the love that constantly pulses within you. Renew your commitment to do something good and meaningful with its positive power.

Make joy your priority, your perspective, the flavor you add to reality. All of life deserves to experience the joy you have to give.
