Today's Gift
A house is like a lump of clay that can be molded and changed. It can be fixed and shaped, torn down and added to, painted, papered, carpeted, and paneled. We can think about how to change it, find pictures in books, and order plans. We can stock up on supplies, take fix-it classes, and get advice from others. But the house will remain unchanged until we pick up a brush, grab a bucket of paint, and get to work. Only then will we see tomorrow the results of what we did today.
Our plans help us construct a vision of how we'd like the future to be, but only actions will bring these things about. With confidence in the rightness of our desires, we can be assured that the Universe never gives us a dream we can't reach.
What action can I take today to make tomorrow's changes?

********************************Twenty-Four Hours a DayKeep It Simple
Life holds so many choices now that we are sober. We'd like to go so many places. We'd like to see so many things. We have so much to do. We are slowly learning how to trust our dreams and reach for them. Our program teaches us that we live One Day at a Time. We make progress by doing First Things First. Easy Does It. Our dreams may seem very big and far away. We wonder if we'll ever get there. But our faith tells us to go for it. And we know how: one step at a time.
PRAYER for the Day: Higher Power, help me know this gentle truth: my life matters. Help me set goals that I can grow toward, one step at a time.
Action for the Day: Today, I'll think about one of my goals. I will list ten little steps that will help me get there.

One Day At A Time
"Self-pity is one of the most unhappy and consuming defects that we know.
It is a bar to all spiritual progress and can cut off all effective communication
with our fellows because of its inordinate demands for attention and sympathy.
It is a maudlin form of martyrdom, which we can ill afford."

Shining alternative
by Ralph Marston
Every day you run into carelessness and incompetence. Rather than bemoan that sad state of affairs, provide life with a shining alternative.
Why should you care when other people don’t care? Because if no one cares then everyone loses.
One big reason for all the carelessness and incompetence is a lack of inspiration. You can generate that inspiration by serving as a positive example.
Life is markedly more enjoyable and fulfilling when you’re committed to excellence. Claim that satisfaction for yourself while also showing others how good it can be.
Someone has to be the person who does what is right, what is good, and caring and meaningfully excellent. Be that person, cheerfully, generously, without judgment.
Show the world how good life can be when you’re purposeful, diligent, and competent. And you’ll spread that goodness to all those around you.
