Today's Gift
Serenity or peace of mind is accomplished by very few people in the world. True happiness will come to the person who seeks and finds how to serve others. ~Anonymous
We are overjoyed that our giving and sharing is called volunteering. If, in carrying the message of hope, we are volunteers, we are happy to be among those who are volunteers in its purest form. We welcome a chance to serve.
There are no honor rolls, awards, money, or trophies. We give for the pure joy of helping. Our greatest rewards come in the form of a firm handshake or a hug from someone to whom we’ve given. Sometimes it’s the gratitude in the eyes of a family member or friend. That is enough.
I want to practice the advice not to seek glory for kindnesses I perform. I can never be happy if I depend on material rewards for what I have given.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
Being human means we'll have hard times along with pleasant ones. Whether with friends, at school, or at home, we'll find reasons for sadness or anger as easily as for laughter. In every part of our lives, we're offered just what we need for growth.
Being the best we know how to be doesn't mean we'll escape confusion or pain. Through the troubling times we learn to trust in a Higher Power; we learn patience; we learn to let go and let the Universe decide outcomes. The troubling times offer us growth and serenity, our keys to happiness.
Action for the Day: I will look for the hidden gifts in today's troubles.

One Day At A Time
Resentment is the "number one" offender. It destroys more alcoholics than
anything else. From it stem all forms of spiritual disease, for we have been
not only mentally and physically ill, we have been spiritually sick. When the
spiritual malady is overcome, we straighten out mentally and physically.
--Alcoholics Anonymous, (How It Works) p. 64
Thought to Ponder
Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
by Ralph Marston
Living a good life does not require that you fight your way into a position of dominance. It’s more a matter of care and competence.
Be prepared for what could happen. Be realistic about what does happen.
Be flexible with how you respond. Be appreciative for what you have and for all you can do.
Nothing is as good as it seems because any advantage you gain will not last forever. Nothing is as bad as it seems because you can always find ways to make things better.
Let go of the need to prove you’re right and you’ll free yourself to discover higher levels of truth. Admit what you cannot do and you’ll magnify the value of what you can do.
Turn away from those thoughts and perceptions that fill you with anxiety. Focus instead on the goodness that can be, and go forward with quiet courage to bring it to life.
