Today's Gift
The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears. —John Vance Cheney
If there were no rain, fields would become parched and brittle, and many creatures would die. If we could not cry, all our emotions would eventually dry up, too, and soon we would not laugh either. Our tears cleanse us. Our tears heal. They make us whole.
Tears are as important to our growth as rain is to a flower. They help release the pressure of sadness so we can feel better. After a storm, when the sun shines again through the clouds, a brightly colored rainbow appears. After our tears, our inner sun shines, and rainbows are formed from our pain.
How well can I accept my tears as part of my happiness today?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
In this time of international conflict and mistrust it is easy to despair. At times we may even feel hopeless as we hear about wars and weapons. But there is hope! Change can grow from within each of us.
The world is like a tree—if the tree is diseased and the leaves brown and brittle, the gardener does not treat the branches, but tends to the roots. Our world is made up of nations, in which there are states containing communities of neighborhoods where individual people live. We are the roots of our world tree. As attitudes change; as we accept and love ourselves honestly and learn, in turn, to accept and love others regardless of our differences, slowly, the branches that extend from us and cover the world will grow strong. The peace we can make within ourselves can be reflected everywhere.
Action for the Day: I will find the peace within myself today.

One Day At A Time
Abandon yourself to your Higher Power as you understand Them. Admit your faults to Them and to your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give freely of what
you find and join us. We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and
you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.
May your Higher Power bless you and keep you—until then.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
by Ralph Marston
A peaceful response is a powerful response. Before you speak, before you act, before you respond, consider a calm and peaceful way to do so.
There is almost always a way to say what you have to say in a peaceful, compelling manner. And when you do, you have a much better chance of being heard and understood.
Whatever you have to accomplish, seek a way to get it done peacefully and respectfully. By so doing, you’ll pave the way for even greater accomplishments.
When you live and think and act peacefully, you’ll find a world of people eager to support your efforts. When your life is filled with peaceful moments, your mind is much more positively focused and your work is much more effective.
Every day you’ll come across situations where you can add real value by introducing a calm and peaceful tone. Even a small bit of peacefulness has the power to profoundly change things for the better.
Let yourself be strong enough and confident enough to practice peace on a daily basis. You’ll quickly make your world a better place.
