Today's Gift

Any idea, person or object can be a Medicine Wheel, a mirror for all. The tiniest flower can be such a mirror, as can a wolf, a story, a touch, a religion, or a mountaintop. --Hyemeyohsts Storm

The ancient spiritual teachings of the Cheyenne Indians tell us that we meet ourselves in almost everything we confront. A group of people spending a night on a mountaintop will each have a different experience. One may be overcome with a sense of awe, another may spend every moment gripped by fear, and another may sleep the night away. While the mountain is the same, each has brought himself to it and has a different experience. When we meet an animal, feel a touch, or take a hike down the street, we see a reflection of ourselves and of humanity.

This day is a Medicine Wheel for each of us. Our response to today's circumstances will tell us more about ourselves. We need not waste energy judging ourselves harshly, but learn from our feelings and reactions. Our reflections point the way for further growth.

Today, I will look for my own reflection in what I meet and for the reflection of all humanity.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

You’re never too old to grow up. ~Shirley Conran

A child’s view of adults is that they have arrived at some fixed point where they are emancipated and have all the tools necessary for life. An adult knows that we never stop growing. Many of us have been stuck in an immature level of development. Our life stresses and our dysfunctions took us off the track of emotional growth. We found substitutes and evasions for truly dealing with the normal life problems. Now we are back on the much more rewarding path of truly living and growing.

We accept the adult wisdom that we all need help and we all continue to learn and grow throughout our life span. We finally feel like adults because we take responsibility for our actions. We don’t blame others for our problems, and when our days feel challenging, we can ask for help. Back on our path, we are never alone.

Action for the DayToday, I will be grateful to be on the path of dealing with my life and continuing to grow truly stronger.

One Day At A Time

Unworkable Relations
Our demand for emotional security, for our own way, had constantly
thrown us into unworkable relations with other people. Though we
were sometimes quite unconscious of this, the result always had
been the same. Either we had tried to play a God and dominate those
about us, or we had insisted on being overdependent upon them.

Thought to Ponder
One of the many differences between me and my Higher Power:
my Higher Power doesn't want to be me.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Nudge yourself forward
by Ralph Marston

Just because it’s difficult, doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Today is when you can figure out a way.

Even the biggest setback doesn’t mean you have to give up. Take a look at where you now are, and decide what you can now do.

Think of all the things you wish you had done differently. Now is your chance to grant that wish to yourself.

Criticism hurts, whether it’s from yourself or others, and that’s why it can be so helpful. Let it inspire you to be smarter, stronger, more persistent and resilient.

There is one particular action you can take right now to make life better. Take that action without delay, and you’ll empower yourself to take more.

Whatever has been, whatever is now, you can nudge yourself a little bit forward. Do it, keep it up, and let those little nudges combine to greatly improve your world.
