Today's Gift
Inspirations never go in for long engagements; they demand immediate marriage to action. ~Brendan Francis
The Universe speaks to us in many ways at many times. If we are spiritually alert, we will know it when it happens. A stray thought occurs; we overhear a bit of conversation; a passage in something we are reading suddenly stands out—and we know we have connected. A feeling of assurance and peace comes over us.
The trouble is that we might acknowledge this contact only briefly, and then it slips away. The time to act passes. The favor we could have done; the advice or support we could have offered; the help we could have given or received—all are missed opportunities.
When the Universe speaks, we must do more than listen.
Today I will act when inspired.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
Being faith-filled takes effort, not unlike becoming a good writer, tennis player, or pianist. Faith grows within our hearts, but we must devote time to foster this growth. Daily discussions with God are required, frequent quiet times to hear our Higher Power's messages to us—just as practice on the court, hitting balls or sitting for extended periods at the typewriter or a piano are necessary to attainment of these goals.
Life's difficulties are eased when we have faith. The most frightening situation, a job interview, an evaluation with our boss, a showdown with a friend, can be handled confidently when we let our faith work for us. But, we must first work for it, work to attain it and work to keep it. Like any skill, it gets rusty with lack of use.
Action for the Day: I will make sure to add to my reserves today. We never know when we may need to let our faith direct our every action. I will make a friend of my higher power, and that partnership will carry me over any troubled time.

One Day At A Time
We want to find exactly how, when, and where our natural desires have
warped us. We wish to look squarely at the unhappiness this has caused
others and ourselves. By discovering what our emotional deformities are,
we can move toward their correction. Without a willing and persistent effort
to do this, there can be little sobriety or contentment for us.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
The message in this day
by Ralph Marston
What is today telling you? Instead of feeling that you must fight against the events and developments of this day, decide to carefully listen.
Imagine that there’s a message in each circumstance that comes your way. Proceed as if you’re receiving valuable information that can make a real difference in your life and in your world.
Instead of becoming completely consumed by what’s happening, take a moment to consider why. Then go one step further and look at ways you can make use of the new knowledge that is coming your way.
The challenges that arrive, the joys you experience, the disappointments, the discoveries, and the seemingly random happenings all add up to something. Let go of the need to instantly jump to shallow conclusions about each little thing, and seek to know the whole picture.
Find out for yourself what happens when you make the assumption that everything occurs for a reason, and that those reasons are good. Take a step back from what seems to be turmoil, observe with your heart, and you’ll begin to see order.
Choose to see the message that today is bringing. And you’ll find in it real treasure.
