Today's Gift

To do nothing is failure. To try, and in the trying you make some mistakes, and then you make some positive changes as a result of those mistakes, is to learn and to grow and to blossom. ~Darlene Larson Jenks

Life is a process, one that is continuously changing. And with each change, we are offered unexpected opportunities for growth. Change is what fosters our development as person. It encourages us to risk new behavior and may even result in some mistakes. Fortunately, no mistakes can seriously hinder us. In fact, most mistakes give us an additional opportunity to learn.

Where we stand today is far removed from our position last year, or even last week. Each and every moment offers us new input that influences any decision from this moment forward. The process that we're participating in guarantees our growth as long as we remain conscious of our opportunities and willingly respond to them. We can be glad that the life process is, in fact, never static, always moving, always inviting us to participate fully.

I will have the courage to make a mistake today. It's a promise of growth.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

Plan Plans, Not Results

Understanding that we do not have the power to control the results of our plans is an important step toward accepting reality. We do make plans, based on the information, experience, and insight which we have available to us. The outcome of our plans, however, is dependent on circumstances, which are frequently beyond our control.

When we accept the fact that the results of our plans are always in the hands of our Higher Power, we can relax and leave the outcome to Them. When we do not insist compulsively that life go according to our design, we are able to avoid the inevitable frustration produced by such an unrealistic attitude. However good our intentions, our designs are always finite and based on limited knowledge. We need to trust a Power greater than ourselves.

Our idea of what is best for ourselves and those we love may not always be right, according to our Higher Power's will. The faith that They will carry out Their design for us, even when we do not understand it, relieves us of much anxiety and frustration.

Action for the Day: Today I will leave results to my Higher Power and the Universe.

One Day At A Time

Only One Key
Practicing Step Three is like the opening of a door which to all
appearances is still closed and locked. All we need is a key,
and the decision to swing the door open. There is only one key,
and it is called willingness. Once unlocked by willingness, the
door opens almost of itself, and looking through it, we shall see
a pathway beside which is an inscription. It reads:
"This is the way to a faith that works."
- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, (Step Three) p. 34

Thought to Ponder
Faith dares the soul to go beyond what the eyes can see.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Let it go, let it be
by Ralph Marston

Maybe it’s okay when you don’t get your way. Maybe you can live with not having everything you want the moment you want it.

In fact, perhaps that’s a good thing. Perhaps your life would benefit greatly if you could take a step back from yourself and your desires.

Life becomes exhausting when it’s all the time all about you. How sweet it can be to connect with the beauty, the wonder, the mystery of not knowing, the power of detachment.

Your purpose, your goals, your objectives are important. Yet that’s no reason to wind yourself to the breaking point with anxiety.

You’re skilled at evaluating what happens and responding effectively to it, and that’s good. Just keep in mind that you also have the option to let it go, to let it be.

Live your life, live it well, with purpose, with dreams, with achievement. And magnify the value of all you do by being able, and willing, to let it go, to let it be.
