Today's Gift

If you want to be happy, be happy. – Leo Tolstoy

The Good Feelings

Let yourself feel the good feelings too.

Yes, sometimes, good feelings can be as distracting as the painful, more difficult ones. Yes, good feelings can be anxiety producing to those of us unaccustomed to them. But go ahead and feel the good feelings anyway.

Feel and accept the joy. The love. The warmth. The excitement. The pleasure. The satisfaction. The elation. The tenderness. The comfort.

Let yourself feel the victory, the delight.

Let yourself feel cared for.

Let yourself feel respected, important, and special.

These are only feelings, but they feel good. They are full of positive, upbeat energy - and we deserve to feel that when it comes our way.

We don't have to repress. We don't have to talk ourselves out of feeling good - not for a moment.

If we feel it, it's ours for the moment. Own it. If it's good, enjoy it.

Today, Universe, help me be open to the joy and good feelings available to me.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

If it's sanity you're after, there's no recipe like laughter. ~Henry Rutherford Elliot

A smile is the earliest form of communication. A human infant smiles in the first few weeks of life. As the child grows, it learns how to turn the smile into a laugh—a joyous response reflecting pleasure.

A sense of humor, a feeling of fun, and an ability to laugh are all signs of emotional maturity. Healthy laughter frees us; it is the sunshine that makes life's shadows interesting. When we develop the ability to see the humor in a situation, we gain the ability to handle it.

We were born with smiles. They are as much a part of us as our teeth and hair. Polished and cared for, our smiles can grow into a sense of humor that will help us through the painful times.

Action for the Day: I will turn my troubles into smiles today.

One Day At A Time

Self-Confidence
When first challenged to admit defeat, most of us revolted.
We had approached A.A. expecting to be taught self-confidence.
Then we had been told that so far as alcohol is concerned,
self-confidence was no good whatever; in fact, it was a total liability.

Thought to Ponder
Avoidance is not the key; surrender opens the door.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

The power of feelings
by Ralph Marston

You can feel good for no reason at all. In fact, you can choose to feel any way you wish at any time and in any situation.

Whatever you desire, you desire because of the way you think it will make you feel. Whatever you avoid, you avoid because you don’t wish to experience the feelings that you assume it will bring.

Yet the fact is that your feelings are not controlled by your circumstances. Those feelings are determined by how you choose to respond to various situations and events.

Your feelings in any moment are yours to choose. You can choose to feel the wonderful reality of your most treasured dreams long before those dreams have been fully achieved.

And when you do, you put yourself in a positive, powerful place from which you can surely make those dreams real. When you feel good for no reason, you immediately begin to create the reasons.

Choose each day to feel the way you wish to feel, no matter what is going on around you. And let your feelings pull you toward the fulfillment of your destiny.
