Today's Gift

That reality of life and living - movement from one place to another either in a project or in a state of mind - does not conform with what we imagine or expect or think we deserve so we often leave things hanging unfinished or unstarted. --Sandra Edwards

Being dissatisfied, discontented, with the experiences life gives us forever hampers our growth. Reality is not our bane but our gift. The particular reality perceived by any one of us is of special significance because in that reality are our lessons - the very lessons that will awaken us to the awareness that what life offers is just what we deserve, and more.

It's our interpretation of life's realities that is at fault. But as we grow, spiritually, the clouds will disappear. We'll come to understand the interplay between our realities. And we'll willingly move ahead, fulfilling our part in life's bigger picture.

Sometimes all I can do is trust that all is well, even though it's not as I had hoped. On bad days I need only to reflect on the past to know that I am moving in the right direction.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

"Wait'll next year!" is the favorite cry of baseball fans, football fans, hockey fans, and gardeners. ~Robert Orben

Hope was a casualty for many of us in our life of chaos and extremes. Some of us said to ourselves, "Life is just drab, I'd better get used to it." We may have slowly changed our definition of normal to mean a hopeless existence. Others of us held onto some shred of hope that said "Better times are just around the comer," but it only kept us from confronting how disastrous our lives had become. We are brothers in that we truly have been men on a dead-end path.

Our new lives have seen the dawning of true hope that has a solid base upon reality. We have the reality of friendships with our brothers and sisters. They provide comfort and support which are reliable and durable. We have the reality of our clearer thinking and our amended lives. We may not have everything we could desire, but we are actually on the road and progressing in directions we wish to go. We are engaged in the adventure of increasing our conscious contact with our Higher Power. Our hope is founded in what we already feel in our lives.

Action for the Day: Today, nothing is perfect, but hope underlies everything. With the return of hope, I will take my life back again.

One Day At A Time

Faith
Leaving aside the drink question, they tell why living was
so unsatisfactory. They show how the change came over
them. When many hundreds of people are able to say
that the consciousness of the Presence of our Higher Power is today
the most important fact of their lives, they present a
powerful reason why one should have faith.
- Alcoholics Anonymous, (We Agnostics) p. 51

Thought to Ponder
Faith is like a muscle, the more we use it, the more it grows.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Time of transformation
by Ralph Marston

The current moment is special, different in an important way from every other moment. The current moment, right now, is a time of transformation.

You may have been frustrated for hours, or weeks. Yet right now, you can choose to get past that frustration, to take a more positive approach.

Perhaps for the last few days you’ve been a little sluggish and unmotivated. You can transform, right now, into being energetic and productive.

What’s so great about right now is this. The negative choices, feelings, and attitude can stop, and the positive elements of your life can expand.

Right now, you can make a clean break from the past. You can leave behind what has not worked, and double down on what does work well for you.

As difficult, limiting, disappointing as the past may have been, now it’s over. Now, in this time of transformation, is your great chance to do a whole lot better.
