Today's Gift
One must be leery of words because they turn into cages. —Viola Spolin
We defeat ourselves with labels. We hem ourselves in; we shorten our vision; we cut off opportunities in the making. We influence how others think of us, too. Someone wise said that we teach others how to treat us. Are we teaching people to expect nothing great from us because we are always afraid? Do we shatter their vision of our potential by never thinking we can handle what may come?
We become the persons we have programmed ourselves to be. We can revamp the program, anytime. And right now is a good time to begin. We are surrounded by persons who have done just that.
It's time for praise. We are all that we need to be, and more. We will be helped to do all we are asked to do. We have an inner beauty that only needs encouragement to shine forth. If we smile from within today, we will free ourselves from our negative cages. A new life awaits us.
To catch myself each time I insult myself will be a challenge, but one worth taking on. And it's one I can win!

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
We all have monsters. Maybe it's depression over the past or present circumstances, or resentment about another's behavior, or fear of new situations. Maybe it's jealousy of other people. The more attention we give the monsters, the more powerful they get. The harder we try to resist the jealousy or depression or fear, the greater it becomes.
The program offers us the way to let go. And we find the way through one another. When we share ourselves fully with one another, share our monsters with one another, they no longer dominate us. They seek the dark recesses of our minds, and when we shine the light on them, they recoil. The program offers us an eternal light.
Action for the Day: I will let the program shine its light in my life today. My monsters will flee for the day.

One Day At A Time
Admitted to our Higher Power, to ourselves, and to another
human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
This is perhaps difficult—especially discussing our defects
with another person. We think we have done well enough in
admitting these things to ourselves. There is doubt about that.
In actual practice, we usually find a solitary self-appraisal insufficient.
Many of us thought it necessary to go much further.

Thought to Ponder
We need to share our problems to find our solutions.

Daily Motivation
Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
by Ralph Marston
You deserve to be more confident than you are. Your self doubts are not nearly so well-founded as you think.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Let go of those persistent doubts, and let confidence take their place.
Whether you’ve ever even realized it, you are an achiever. Though occasionally life can make you feel helpless, you are actually someone who is very good at finding ways to get things done.
It’s not arrogant or presumptuous to believe in yourself. Indeed, it is an acknowledgment of reality and the starting point for making all of life better.
The fact is, you are skilled and resourceful, capable and experienced. When you want to be, you can be passionate, inspired, persistent and highly effective.
No one benefits when you hold yourself back. So go ahead, believe in yourself, give yourself the confidence you deserve, and do those great and wonderful things that are yours to do.
