Today's Gift
There are no new truths, but only truths that have not been recognized by those who have perceived them without noticing. —Mary McCarthy
We understand today ideas we couldn't grasp yesterday. We are conscious this year of details of our past that we may have glossed over at the time. Our blinders are slowly giving way, readying us for the truths we couldn't absorb before.
"When the student is ready, the teacher appears." And the teacher comes bearing truths that we need to assimilate into our growing bank of knowledge. The truths we may be given today, or any day, won't always make us happy immediately. We may learn that a job is no longer right for us. Or that a relationship has reached an end. And the impending changes create unrest. But in the grand scheme of our lives, the changes wrought by these truths are good and will contribute in time to our happiness.
Let's celebrate the truths as they come and trust the outcome to Universe. We are traveling a very special road. The way is rocky. The bends limit our vision, but we will be given all the direction we need.
The truths I receive today will guide my steps. I shall move in peace.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
A controller doesn't trust their ability to live through the pain and chaos of life. ~Rita Mae Brown
It is very hard for most of us to see how controlling we are. We may feel uptight or careful, but we haven't seen it as controlling ourselves or controlling how people respond to us. We may be worried about a loved one's behavior or safety, but not realize our hovering over that person is a controlling activity. We may be keenly aware of other people's controlling behavior with us, but unaware we have equaled their control by monitoring them and trying to change their behavior.
What a moment of spiritual adventure it is to risk living through the pain! When we do not seek an escape or a quick fix but have patience with the process, new possibilities often do develop. We can only let go of our control—or turn it over to our Higher Power. And we will do it and forget, taking control back within minutes or within an hour. Then we let go again.

Action for the Day: Today, I will submit to the insecurity of a changing universe and have faith that I can live through the process and grow.

One Day At A Time
Gift of Faith
We saw that we had to reconsider or die. We found many in A.A,
who once thought as we did. They helped us to get down to our right size.
By their example they showed us that humility and intellect could be
compatible, provided we placed humility first. When we began to do that,
we received the gift of faith, a faith which works. This faith is for you, too.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
by Ralph Marston
Are you being eaten alive by a monster that does not even exist? Have your highest thoughts and best moments been sucked away by a demon with no actual form or substance?
You are wise to be concerned, and to do something about those concerns. But it is foolish to contaminate your awareness and paralyze your life with useless worry.
What perfectly good thing have you started and then stopped, worried what others would think? What goal, what dream have you declined to achieve, worried about problems you could easily have solved?
Worry waters down your enthusiasm, cancels your best plans, and hands you nothing but regret in return. Let this be the day you walk away from all that.
Let this be the moment you face your fears, challenges, limitations, and act to do something about them. Rather than being hobbled with worry, choose now to put the power of your imagination to purposeful use, spurring you into action.
Be smart, be realistic, be wary, but don’t be worried. Feel your strength, express that strength with action, and rise above every useless worry.
