Today's Gift

When we begin to take our failures non-seriously, it means we are ceasing to be afraid of them. ~Katherine Mansfield

Perfectionism and its control over our lives stands seriously in the way of our growth and well-being, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically. Life's lessons come through failures probably more than successes. Through our failures we learn humility. We learn to look to others for help and guidance. We learn how to let others fail, too. We fail because we are human.

When we no longer fear failure, we are free to attempt greater feats. We dare to learn more, and life is fuller for it—not just our own lives, but the lives that we touch.

Laughter over our mistakes eases the risk of trying again. Laughter keeps us young, and the lighthearted find more pleasure in each day.

If I fail at something I try today I will laugh about it. My laughter will open the way to another try.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

Fear is only an illusion. It is the illusion that creates the feeling of separateness the false sense of isolation that exists only in. your imagination --Jeraldine Sounders

We are one. We are connected, interdependent parts of the whole. We are not separate from each other except in the mind, in our false understanding of reality. As we come to understand our connectedness, our need for one another to complete the whole of creation, our fears will die.

It is often said we learn who we really are by closely observing our behavior toward the people in our lives. We meet ourselves in those others. They are our reflections. They are, perhaps, parts we ourselves have not yet learned to love. The program's message is to trust, to have faith; our higher power is in control. We are faced with no person, no situation too big to handle if we trust the program, if we remember the connections among us all.

Action for the day: I will look around today at others, with knowledge of our oneness. Fearing not, I will smile upon the wholeness of life.

One Day At A Time

Absolutely Unable
But the actual or potential alcoholic, with hardly an exception,
will be absolutely unable to stop drinking on the basis of self-knowledge.
This is a point we wish to emphasize and re-emphasize,
to smash home upon our alcoholic readers as it has been revealed
to us out of bitter experience.

Daily Motivation

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Positive territory
by Ralph Marston

Some days it seems the whole world is infected with negativity. But that’s no reason for you to be similarly infected.

Where you see carelessness and incompetence, let it lead you to be more caring and effective. When you encounter anger and disparagement, let it inspire you to be more tolerant, optimistic and encouraging.

In a negative environment, be the person to claim the positive territory. Then set out to expand that territory.

You’re not likely to stop the discord and fighting by fighting against it. What you can do, is to think, speak, and act so positively that you render the negativity useless and irrelevant.

It could be that those negative people you encounter have forgotten they have any other option. Be the person to show them, with the way you live, a better choice.

Live with love, with excellence, with an optimistic, affirmative outlook. And make the world around you a more positive place.
