Today's Gift

No person is born into the world whose work is not born with them. --James Russell Lowell

The Universe has provided each of us, at birth, with the necessary talents and gifts to make a worthwhile contribution to the world. What we make of those gifts and talents is entirely up to us. We can choose to ignore, and thereby destroy, our innate interests and abilities - or we can choose to pursue them, despite our doubts and fears, and enjoy life to the fullest.

If we wish to use our talents and gifts, we must become aware of those activities and interests we enjoy. Then we must make the effort to explore the opportunities and alternatives available to us. If we do not find a place for our interests and abilities in the world around us, we needn't be discouraged. We can create one. Dedication and perseverance have opened many seemingly closed doors.

Am I doing the best with what I've been given? Am I using my capabilities well? If I am not, am I willing to take the necessary action to achieve inner satisfaction?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

Do not compare yourself with others, for you are a unique and wonderful creation. Make your own beautiful footprints in the snow. --Barbara Kimball

Comparisons we make of ourselves to other people does destruction far greater than our conscious minds are aware of. Positioning ourselves or them on the "beloved pedestal" prevents the equality of community that offers each person the freedom to be solely them self.

Comparisons in which we are the losers darken the moment, cut us off from the actual rhythms of that moment. The consequences can be grave. Within any moment might be the opportunity we've awaited, the opportunity to achieve a particular dream. We must not miss our opportunities.

Each life is symbolized by a particular set of footprints in the snow. How wonderful and how freeing to know that we each offer something uniquely our own. We need never compete to be noticed. Each of us is guaranteed recognition for what we contribute, because it is offered by us alone.

Envy eats at us; it interferes with all of our interactions. It possesses all of our thoughts, caging us, denying us the freedom to achieve that can be ours.

Action for the Day: I will look with love on my peers. I will free them and myself to be all we are capable of becoming.

One Day At A Time

A Gift
When a person has a spiritual awakening, the most important meaning
of it is that they have now become able to do, feel, and believe that which they could
not do before on their unaided strength and resources alone.
They have been granted a gift which amounts to a new state of consciousness and
being. They have been set on a path which tells them they are really going somewhere,
that life is not a dead end, not something to be endured or mastered.
- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, pp. 106 - 107

Thought to Ponder
Every day is a gift. That is why we call it the present.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Live with quality
by Ralph Marston

Live this day with quality. Whatever you do, do it well, with focus, care, respect and consideration.

Your life deserves the highest quality. Give it quality thoughts, quality time, quality relationships, quality actions and adventures.

It makes no sense to rush from one shallow, empty experience to the next. Rather than being afraid of missing out, seek to stir your spirit with deep passion.

Whether you’re sweeping the sidewalk, climbing a mountain, or cooking dinner, you can do it with quality. Each moment is unique and precious, as is your life, so act accordingly.

Commit yourself to living with quality, and you’ll instill a strong sense of purpose into all you do. You’ll empower yourself to transcend the confusion and assemble consequential achievements.

Seek quality, support quality, create quality, and insist on nothing less than quality in what you do. Live with quality in every undertaking, and fulfill your highest and best possibilities.
