Today's Gift

. . . that is what learning is. You suddenly understand something you've understood all your life, but in a new way. --Doris Lessing

As we are changed by our experiences, that which we know also changes. Our experiences foster growth and enlightenment, and all awareness's give way to new understandings. We are forever students of life blessed with particular lessons designed only for us. There is joy in knowing that learning has no end and that each day offers us a chance to move closer to becoming the persons we are meant to be.

To understand something more deeply requires that we be open to the ideas of others, willing to part with our present opinions. Life offers us many opportunities to trade in the understandings we've outgrown. Throughout our lives we will discover new interpretations of old ideas. And we will continue to expand our understanding.

Every situation, every person, every feeling, every idea has a slightly different hue each time we encounter it. The wonder of this is that life is forever enriched, forever fresh.

Each moment offers me a chance to know better who I am and to understand more fully the real contribution that is mine to make in this life. I will let the anticipation of my changing ideas excite me.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy. Dale Carnegie

The most important move is to begin.

We begin weaving by stringing vertical threads on a loom to form the foundation of a new cloth. Then horizontal threads are interlaced back and forth, and we create a fabric. As the cloth begins to form, new possibilities open before us. After we weave in the first color we can then envision other colors that will work with it. The most important move is to begin.

Sometimes new possibilities occur to us only through action. If we take the risk of the first step and keep our eyes open, we will see the next step. Too much planning, too much carefulness and analysis, may block all action.

With our partner we might sometimes feel stuck in a pattern. We may even feel hopeless. Rather than thinking excessively, we could take action, do one thing that we know people in good relationships do. We might be able to take the risk of that first step with the help of our Higher Power. When we take one hopeful step at a time, each step produces information that leads to the next.

Action for the Day: Name one interesting thing you can do today. You need not justify it or understand where it will lead. Just try it.

One Day At A Time

Spiritual Infancy
They will perceive that their spiritual growth is lopsided, that for an average person like
their self, a spiritual life which does not include their family obligations may not be
so perfect after all. If the family will appreciate that person’s current behavior is but
a phase of their development, all will be well. In the midst of an understanding and
sympathetic family, these vagaries of their spiritual infancy will quickly disappear.

Thought to Ponder
I cannot add to the peace and good will of the world if I fail to create
an atmosphere of harmony and love right where I live and work.

Daily Motivation

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Earned wisdom
by Ralph Marston

Learn from your mistakes, and put into practice what you’ve learned. Then you won’t have to live with regret for those mistakes.

As your life moves forward, each choice can be a more positive, effective, fulfilling choice. Because each new choice can be informed by all the choices that came before it.

Allow the poor choices in your past to point you toward more positive choices now. Instead of being ashamed or resentful about what happened, be enthusiastic about what you can now do with the experience.

You’ve suffered enough because of your past mistakes. There is no point in punishing yourself further.

Decide to transform those old mistakes in to new opportunities. Let the negative experiences in your past motivate you to take positive action now.

With those past mistakes and their consequences, you’ve earned yourself some valuable wisdom. Put that wisdom into action today.
