Self-appraisal
In actual practice, we usually find a solitary self-appraisal insufficient.
Many of us thought it necessary to go much further. We will be more reconciled to
discussing ourselves with another person when we see good reasons why we should do so.
The best reason first: If we skip this vital step, we may not overcome drinking.

Outlast every failure
The time of discipline began. Each of us the pupil of whichever one of us could best teach what each of us needed to learn. —Maria Isabel Barreno
"When the pupil is ready, the teacher appears." Life's lessons often come unexpectedly. They come, nevertheless, and they come according to a timeframe that is Divine. As we grow emotionally and spiritually, we are readied for further lessons for which teachers will appear. Perhaps the teacher will be a loving relationship, a difficult loss, or a negative experience. The time of learning is seldom free from pain and questioning. But from these experiences and what they can teach us, we are ready to learn. As we are ready, they come.
We all enjoy the easy times when the sailing is smooth, when all is well, when we are feeling no pain. And these periods serve a purpose. They shore us up for the lessons which carry us to a stronger sense of ourselves. To understand that all is well, throughout the learning process, is the basic lesson we need to learn. All is well. The teacher is the guide up the next rung of the ladder.
Let me be grateful for my lessons today and know that all is well.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Keep It Simple
The elevator is broken; use the Steps. --Anonymous
Elevators are easy. We push a button and we go right to the top. The way is fast, quick, and silent. We don't work up a sweat. We don't get out of breath. We can't trip and fall. There is not much time to communicate with anyone else along the way so we don't have to use any effort or thought. We can daydream as we face the front of the car and stare at the numbers as they change from floor to floor.
Our addictions were our elevators out of living. The chemical highs we experienced were just like an elevator ride. Until we crashed.
Action for the Day: I will sometimes sweat, stumble, get out of breath in my climb, but I'll take the time to talk with and learn from others who are taking the Steps with me.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator
Outlast every failure
by Ralph Marston
If you’re making your best effort, you’re making progress. When that effort doesn’t bring the results you want, keep going.
To get it right, you’ll probably go through many iterations of getting it wrong. Success happens when you’ve worked through enough failures.
Give yourself enough time to fail, and to fail again. That’s how much time it takes to succeed.
Give yourself permission to fail. That’s how you develop the confidence to succeed.
You know where you desire to be, what you desire to create. With every disappointment you’re smarter, more focused, closer to the goal.
Learn, adjust, innovate, adapt, and keep going. Outlast every failure and you’ll end up with success.
