Today's Gift

The expression of praise as thanksgiving, gratitude, and joy is among the most powerful forms of affirmation. --Catherine Ponder

Praise inevitably has a multiple effect. It positively acknowledges another human being, enhancing their well being, while making us feel good. This offering of love, which is the substance of praise, heals all who share in its circle.

We can see the effects of affirmation in the people we admire. We can discern its absence too, particularly among those who struggle. How difficult is it to give small acknowledgments to those we care about? Making a habit of this heals our own inner wounds too.

Affirming a friend or ourselves connects us to the spirit residing within. That bond fills in our empty spaces, making us whole and healed. Our security grows as we praise one another.

I will freely offer my love in the form of praise to the wonderful friends on my path today.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

When you send out real love, real love will return to you. --Florence Scovel Shinn

Real love is selfless love. It expects nothing in return. It is not conditional. It doesn't keep score. It is too seldom given. Many of us came into the program hurting, feeling unloved, looking desperately for love, unable to love selflessly. But we are learning.

We are climbing the same mountain, all of us. Our particular paths will cross the paths of many others before reaching the top, where we will find full enlightenment. And any path we cross has a special contribution to make to our own progress. We can be grateful for all intersecting paths, no matter how adverse they seem at the time. We can offer all our fellow-travelers real love, and our own trip will benefit manyfold.

We need not be ashamed of our desire for love. Nor need we feel shame that we've bargained for it. But we do need to understand that the kind of love we seek can only be gained when we quit searching for it and simply offer it to all the people in our midst.

Action for the Day: I will look into the hearts of all the people I encounter today and offer them love. I'll receive that which I give.

One Day At A Time

Blessings
Having so considered our day, not omitting to take due
note of things well done, and having searched our hearts
with neither fear nor favor, we can truly thank our Higher Power for the
blessings we have received and sleep in good conscience.

Daily Motivation

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Giving
by Ralph Marston

The way to truly feel good is to do what truly is good. Giving feels so good because it is so good for everyone involved.

Good things we associate with modern life came into being because people found a way to make a positive difference in the lives of other people. To the extent we give, we thrive.

Give, not because it is an obligation, or because you’ve been guilted or shamed into doing so. Give because it is one of the greatest things you can do for yourself.

Giving expands your influence and your significance. And it does so in a way that is beneficial for you as well as for those people your giving touches.

Give, and there is no doubt that you matter, that your life has meaning, purpose. Indulge yourself again and again in the great feeling of making a positive impact in your world.

Let generosity infuse your every action, thought, choice, encounter. And relish the experience of a life that increasingly improves because of what you give.
