Today's Gift

The especial genius of people, I believe to be electrical in movement, intuitive in function, spiritual in tendency. —Margaret Fuller

We are human, and we are moving, together and alone. We are moving into new images of ourselves. There is a healing power that comes from moving, from sharing one's ideas and changing one's self. And it is by trusting ourselves and trusting others that we bring harmony, thoughtfulness, and courage to all our actions.

Life holds many possibilities, and we are able to realize them when we risk changing ourselves through taking action. Those of us struggling to better ourselves are taking action; we are changing ourselves. And as we listen to and support each another, we encourage the necessary changes in one another. As one is healed, we are all healed.

Today holds a special promise for me. I can be in harmony. I can share with others. My courage will strengthen others, and others will strengthen me.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

Those that plants trees love others besides themselves. --Thomas Fuller

Trees take many years to become beautiful. They start out small and scrawny, and they need attention and care. Planting them is a lot of work for very little payback in the short-term. But over time, trees become big, beautiful, and useful.

When we plant trees, we are doing it for the people who will come after us. We care that this place will be beautiful for them.

To help them make decisions, some Native American tribes ask, "What will be the effect of this decision on the children to come after us seven generations from now?"

Seeing ourselves as part of life is truly a gift. We can feel the connections with those before us and those yet to be born. Let's do it with love.

Prayer for the Day: Higher Power, help me feel connected to all of life today, and help me to act lovingly with care for the past and the future.

Action for the Day: What can I do today that will live on into tomorrow? Plant a flower or a tree? Teach a child something new? Send a card to a friend? Today I will do one thing.

One Day At A Time

Healing
Provided you hold back nothing, your sense of relief will mount from minute to minute.
The dammed-up emotions of years break out of their confinement,
and miraculously vanish as soon as they are exposed.
As the pain subsides, a healing tranquility takes its place.

Daily Motivation

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Made for giving
by Ralph Marston

You’ve made great progress, but it is not enough. Because you can do more.

Life is about giving, and that’s something you can do whatever your situation may be. As much as you’ve done, as much as you’ve given, you always have more to give.

Indeed, it is giving to life that sustains you. Giving, doing, making a difference benefits your world, and benefits you.

The purpose of achievement is not to sit idly on top of it, smug and self satisfied. Instead, build on that achievement, expand it to have a positive impact on more lives.

There is always more to be done, more substance you can offer to life. Take every opportunity to let unique, meaningful purpose flow through you, energizing your very soul.

Life is made for giving, and it is made good by giving, so keep going, keep giving. All the goodness you give is also your own.
