Today's Gift

I'll walk where my own nature would be leading - It vexes me to choose another guide. —Emily Bronte

We journey across many intersections in our lives. Some may point in two directions, while others lead off in several. Our choice of direction can be difficult, especially when our friends choose a road we know to be dangerous. When this happens, we can choose to go our own way without them. If they begin to tease and taunt us about our decisions, may we remember that they are as scared as we were about their friends' reaction. We are not, after all, living for someone else. If we would be leaders, we can be assured that true leadership comes from following our own directions with confidence that it's right for us, not from fear of losing others' company.

We can let others live their own lives without us, if their direction is not for us. We can walk away with pride, satisfied in the knowledge that we refused to allow other people's fears change our decisions.

How have I gone my own way recently?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way. --Florence Scovel Shinn

Should we make this move? Should we change jobs? Should we talk to others about our feelings? We are seldom short on prayers when we're filled with fear and indecision. We are, however, short on answers. Our worries block them out.

No prayer ever goes unanswered. Of this we can be certain. On the other hand, the answer may not be what we'd hoped for. In fact, we may not have recognized it as the answer because we were expecting something quite different. It takes willingness on our part to be free of our preconceptions--free to accept whatever answers are offered.

Our answers come unexpectedly, a chance meeting on the street, a passage in a book or newspaper, a nagging feeling within. Our Higher Power speaks to each of us throughout the day. Our prayers are answered, our problems find solutions, our worries are eased, if we but attune ourselves to the messages. They are all around.

Action for the Day: I will be attentive to all the signs from my Higher Power today. Whatever answer I seek is finding its way to me.

One Day At A Time

Action
Life will take on new meaning. To watch people recover, to see them help others,
to watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends
—this is an experience you must not miss. We know you will not want to miss it.
Frequent contact with newcomers and with each other is the bright spot of our lives.

Daily Motivation

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Make it mean something
by Ralph Marston

You have one chance to live this day. Make it mean something.

You have one chance to transform the fleeting moments of this day into lasting value. Make those moments count, in a way you’ll always be thankful for.

Today, you can enjoy adding meaning, substance, value to the world. Today, you can experience the deep satisfaction of knowing you’re making a difference.

It’s a grand opportunity, upon you right now. Seize it, go for it, jump with enthusiasm into it.

Even if you’re not quite sure where to start, go ahead, start. With a firm commitment to get good, meaningful work done, and with rock-solid persistence, you’ll find a way.

Life is your playing field today, and upon that field your efforts will change the world. Make those changes wonderful, and make this day one you’ll be happy to have lived.
