Today's Gift

We decided that it was no good asking what is the meaning of life, because life isn't an answer, life is the question, and you, yourself, are the answer. —Ursula K. LeGuin

How many times have we felt like we were drifting aimlessly, constantly searching for meaning in a world that seems so mixed up, seeking direction but getting nowhere? But looked at differently, "nowhere" becomes "now here." When we take things apart, stand back, and examine them from a different angle, we often find we held the answer from the beginning. Sometimes, when we're convinced we are the problem, we discover we were the solution all along.

When we look for true understanding, we can be sure it exists in this moment, and that we can find it within ourselves.

What question do I seek an answer to today?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

To love others, we must first learn to love ourselves.---Anonymous

Sometimes we think our life would be fine if that dream person showed up. But loving someone isn’t easy. Our bad habits cause problems. We have to change. Sometimes we aren’t ready to have on especial person. We have to have a group of people---our recovery group---to love and help us get healthy. We must learn to trust, to be honest, to give help, and to love others. The truth is, no one person can make our life wonderful---except us. We hold happiness inside of us. It’s in our spirit. Look no further.

Prayer for the Day: Higher Power, help me love myself.

Action for the Day: I’ll list five ways I will love myself today.

One Day At A Time

The Right Thing
Reminding ourselves that we have decided to go to any lengths to find a spiritual experience,
we ask that we be given strength and direction to do the right thing,
no matter what the personal consequences may be.
We may lose our position or reputation or face jail, but we are willing.
We have to be. We must not shrink at anything.
- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 79

Thought to Ponder . . .
Happiness is the result doing our next right thing in spite of hurt, in spite, even, of good fortune.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Every choice matters
by Ralph Marston

Reality is what it is, and wishing or pretending for it to be different accomplishes nothing. Yet what you do with reality is up to you, and can make all the difference in the world.

Your perspective, the way you see things, does not itself change anything. However it is that very perspective that inspires and enables you to make valuable, significant changes.

No matter how the situation is, you can be optimistic about it. Because you have the opportunity to do something good with it.

Past experiences and trends can provide valuable guidance for the future. Yet the future depends much more on what gets done than on what has already happened.

Every day, every action, every thought determines how the future unfolds. From the reality of what is, you can create an even better, more fulfilling reality.

Every choice matters. Today, make the choices that make your future bright.
