Today's Gift

For no actual process happens twice; only we meet the same sort of occasion again. —Suzanne K. Langer

Today is not going to be like yesterday. Nor will it resemble tomorrow. Each day is special and promises us many new ideas - perhaps the chance to make a friend, or to learn something interesting from a teacher or a book. Some activities today will be familiar, just like playing a game for the second, third, or tenth time is familiar. And yet, the way each player moves the pieces around the board will be different. The excitement about today is that it is full of surprises. Every thing we do, every conversation we have, will not be repeated in just the same way again, and this reminds us how special each of us is.

What new discovery will I make today?

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way. --Florence Scovel Shinn

Should we make this move? Should we change jobs? Should we talk to others about our feelings? We are seldom short on prayers when we're filled with fear and indecision. We are, however, short on answers. Our worries block them out.

No prayer ever goes unanswered. Of this we can be certain. On the other hand, the answer may not be what we'd hoped for. In fact, we may not recognize it as the answer because we are expecting something quite different. It takes willingness on our part to be free of our preconceptions--free to accept whatever answers are offered.

Our answers come unexpectedly, a chance meeting on the street, a passage in a book or newspaper, a nagging feeling within. Our Higher Power speaks to each of us throughout the day. Our prayers are answered, our problems find solutions, and our worries are eased, if we but attune ourselves to the messages. They are all around.

Action for the Day: I will be attentive to all the signs from my Higher Power today. Whatever answer I seek is finding its way to me.

One Day At A Time

Aloneness
“When I was driven to my knees by alcohol, I was made ready to ask for the gift of faith.
And all was changed. Never again, my pains and problems notwithstanding,
would I experience my former desolation.
I saw the universe to be lighted by my Higher Power’s love; I was alone no more.”
- As Bill Sees It, p. 51

Thought to Ponder . . .
I'm not alone anymore.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Precious day
by Ralph Marston

When you woke up this morning you opened your eyes on a treasure more precious than anything money could buy -- your life. Stop for a moment and remind yourself how very fortunate you are to be living in a world filled with limitless possibilities. Consider how truly blessed you are to be able to think, to experience, to learn, to laugh, to love.

What are you going to do with this precious treasure that is your life today? Will you focus on the negativity around you and darken your day with despair? Or will you look for the positive possibilities and take steps to move your world forward?

No one has a monopoly on the future. It is open and available for everyone who wishes to influence it by what they do right now. What kind of future are you working to create?

What you do today will make a difference, in your own life and in the lives of those around you. It can be a positive difference, or a negative one. What would you prefer to spend this precious day of your life creating? It’s a great day to be alive. Fill it with the best you can imagine.
