Today's Gift

Yesterday is over. “Why let go of yesterday? Because yesterday has already let go of you.”  ― Steve Maraboli

It is a fact of life that what is old dies to make way for what is new. Endings are often painful - we mourn the death of a relationship, we regret leaving a familiar neighborhood, we don't like to say good-bye.

Endings, though, give us the chance to begin again. A new friend comes in to fill the empty space left when an old friend moves away. A new school, a new job, a new season of the year - these are fresh starts that evolve from what has gone before.

We need not fear the inevitable endings in our lives. Daily, we are renewed. Our bodies produce new cells continually. When we are going through an ending, we may not be able to see the new beginning that lies beyond, but we can trust it will be there for us when we are ready. We can welcome the new opportunities that each day brings and consider them gifts from the Higher Power that is with us to guide us through each end and each beginning.

I will let yesterday end so that today can begin.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

If you are seeking creative ideas, go out walking. Angels whisper to a man when he goes for a walk. --Raymond Inmon

We all seek creative ideas from time to time - perhaps when we have a problem resting heavily on our minds, or when we are simply in a bad mood. We need to refresh ourselves at those times. Refreshment doesn't solve a problem, but it can revitalize our thinking. Sometimes when we are feeling hopeless, we neglect to care for ourselves, forgetting a better environment will give us a stronger attitude, even toward the most difficult problems.

We must learn our own best methods for being refreshed - ways that allow angels to whisper to us. They should be simple, inexpensive, and accessible daily. Going for a walk is a very good example. Daily reading and study is another possibility. Observing nature, doing handicrafts or hobbies are refreshing for some men. These activities allow us to temporarily set aside our tasks and concerns and open us to creative ideas.

Action for the Day: Today, I will give myself a creative break from the concerns I am facing.

One Day At A Time

Comfort
I let myself be comforted in knowing that my life is now in the hands of my Higher Power,
a master craftsman who is shaping each part of my life into a unique work of art.
By working my program I can be satisfied,
knowing that “in doing the best that we can for today, we are doing all that God asks for us.“

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Continuing renewal
by Ralph Marston

There is a new world coming to light each morning. There is a new life being born in each moment.

With the dawning of every day, disappointments are transformed into positive determination, and then eventually into new beauty. What were once mistakes take on new life as valuable experiences.

Life is a process of continuing renewal. As you move forward through time, you encounter new possibilities for more fully expressing the unique beauty that lives in your heart.

What has come before may have been very good, or not so good. What comes now can always be much better and even more meaningful.

Lovingly embrace the fresh new possibilities that are now coming to life. Treasure the best of what has been, and carry that treasure forward as you create new richness.

Open yourself to the new opportunity that comes with each breath you take. And be more fully alive than ever before.
