Today's Gift

I Wish I Were

I wish I were big enough to honestly admit all my shortcomings.

Brilliant enough to accept praise without it making me arrogant.

Tall enough to tower over dishonesty.

Strong enough to welcome criticism.

Compassionate enough to understand human frailties.

Wise enough to recognize mistakes.

Humble enough to appreciate greatness.

Brave enough to stand by my friends.

Human enough to be thoughtful of my neighbor.

And spiritual enough to be devoted to the love of God.

Courage

Everyday risks....
We have to take certain risks if we hope to achieve anything. Applying for a job entail a risk of reject. Saving money carries a risk of losing it. Falling in love can result in heartbreak. We have to take such risks because life is ordered that way. We are hear to learn, and learning includes pressing into unknown situations where we could fail.

Our Higher Power could have created us in such a way we could either avoid risks or not unduly concerned about the. Animals, for example, live with risks but do no seem to worry about them. We must accept risk as part of our Higher Power's plan for us. We also are given tools for working with uncertainties. We have our innate intelligence and a capacity for prudent, reasoned action. We have friends who will help us. Above all, we have our Higher Power, who guides and directs us through all sorts of risky conditions.

Action for the Day: I cannot face life without also facing uncertainties. Today I'll accept risk as a prt of ordinary living.

One Day At A Time

The Journey
Clear away the wreckage of your past,
Give freely of what you find and join us.
We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit,
and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.
My God bless you and keep you -- until then.

Daily Motivation

Cheerfully do

Don’t be resentful of your responsibilities. Instead, be thankful for your abilities.

Don’t feel burdened by your obligations. Instead, feel the freedom and possibilities in the opportunities you have to make a difference.

Life can often be serious, complicated and demanding. It’s not all fun and games.

Yet every day, no matter what it holds, is a chance for real fulfillment. Every situation is a situation to which you can bring positive meaning and purpose.

If you get hung up on fighting against what you have to do, you can miss out on some of the most valuable and enriching things you’re able to do. If you waste a lot of energy on resentment, you have that much less energy available to create achievement.

Cheerfully do what there is for you to do, then step up and do even more. Life is yours to be lived, so give your life the richness you deserve.

— Ralph Marston
