Today's Gift

Love is the lamp that lights the universe: without that light . . . the earth is a barren promontory and man the quintessence of dust. --Mary Elizabeth Braddon

All of us are lighted by love. Childcare, car repair, concluding a report - are easier tasks when we know we're loved. We don't feel quite as alone and conspicuous in a crowd of strangers when we recall that someone special loves us. No new adventure, first plane trip, or first day of a class or new job feels quite as threatening when we've got the company of a loved one in our hearts and minds.

You might be thinking, "But I don't have a special loved one now." How narrowly we define being loved. We have friends who love us, who think of us even when we're not present - just as we think of them. And no one of us is ever away from the protective realm of a Higher Power who loves us always and everywhere we go.

Wherever we look there is someone who, like us, will find the day easier if he remembers he's loved.

Worthy of Love by Karen Casey

Twenty-Four Hours A Day

Keep It Simple

The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day a time. --Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln did great things for the United States. He took life One Day at a time.. He broke the future into manageable pieces. We can do the same. We can live in the present and focus on the task at hand.
Spirituality comes when we focus this way. When we stay in the present we find choice. And we worry less about the future. Still, we must have goals.

We must plan for the future.

Goals and plans help us give more credit to the present than to the future. And when we feel good about the present, we feel good about the future.

Prayer for the Day: Higher Power, help me focus. Help me keep my energy in the present. Have me live life One Day at a Time.

Action for the Day: When I find myself drifting into the future, I'll work at bring myself back to the present.

One Day At A Time

Spritual Growth
Do not let any prejudice you may have against spiritual terms deter you
from honestly asking yourself what they mean to you.
At the start, this was all we needed to commence spiritual growth,
to effect our first conscious relation with God as we understood Him.
Afterward, we found ourselves accepting many things
which then seemed entirely out of reach.
- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 47

Thought to Ponder . . .
Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional,
growing spiritually is up to me.

Daily Motivation

Positive perspective

The moment you begin to take positive action, your whole perspective quickly changes. Instead of being worried, angry, resentful, or discouraged, you become focused on creating positive value.

That’s a very good place to be. And you can be there sooner than you might think.

Momentum is a powerful thing. You can get the positive momentum started with the smallest little effective action.

Take action, and once you feel the slightest tinge of encouragement from that small initial action, take more action. Allow the positive momentum to build to the point where you become virtually unstoppable.

In any moment, the choice is clear and the choice is yours to make. Do you sit around worrying, complaining and fearing, or do you stand up, step forward and do something about it?

Take action, and not only will you take positive control of your life. Take action, and you’ll be empowered by a fresh, new positive perspective.

— Ralph Marston
