Sometimes well take a few steps backward. That's okay too. Sometimes its necessary. Sometimes its part of going forward. --Codependent No More
Life is a Gentle Teacher. She wants to help us learn.
The lessons she wants to teach us are the ones we need to learn. Some say they are the lessons we chose to learn before we were born. Others say they are the lessons that were chosen for us.
Its frustrating to be in the midst of learning. It is like sitting in algebra class, listening to a teacher explain a subject beyond our comprehension. We do not understand, but the teacher takes the understanding for granted.
It may feel like someone is torturing us with messages that we shall never understand. We strain and strain. We become angry. Frustrated. Confused. Finally, in despair, we turn away, deciding that that formula will never be available to our mind.
Later, while taking a quiet walk, we break through. Quietly, the gift of understanding has reached that deepest place in us. We understand. We have learned. The next day in class, its hard for us to imagine not knowing. It is hard to remember the frustration and confusion of those who have not yet caught on. It seems so easy . . . now.
Life is a Gentle Teacher. She will keep repeating the lesson until we learn. It is okay to become frustrated. Confused. Angry. Sometimes it is okay to despair. Then, it is okay to walk away and allow the breakthrough to come.
Help me remember that frustration and confusion usually precede growth. If my situation is challenging me, it is because Im learning something new, rising to a higher level of understanding. Help me be grateful, even in my frustration, that life is an exciting progression of lessons.

Keep It Simple
There is guidance for each of us, and by lowly listening, we shall hear the right word. --Ralph Waldo Emerson
Perhaps it was only yesterday or the day before that we doubted our value to society, or to our family or friends. We often lose our direction. That's normal and consistent with the human condition. However, the length of time we spend floundering, uncertain of ourselves, is proportionate to the time it takes us to acknowledge the guide within. We need not be lost or full of doubt for long.
Going within ourselves may not be a spontaneous reaction for many of us, but we can learn to respond in this way. And when we're open to the inner urging and willing to follow it, we'll discover the benefits. All that's asked of us is the decision to listen.
Action for the Day: I can quiet my thoughts today, long enough to sense the necessary direction to take. I can be certain the guidance is right.

One Day At A Time
At a meeting, I had my first awakening in AA. The speaker said,
“If you’re an apple, you can be the best apple you can be, but you can never be an orange.”
I was an apple all right, and for the first time I understood that I had spent my life trying to be an orange.
I looked around at a room filled with apples and, if I was understanding the speaker,
most of them were no longer trying to be oranges.

Not just trying
by Ralph Marston
If you see yourself as merely trying, you cast your efforts in a weak, ineffective light. When you think what you’re doing is just trying, you surround your efforts with doubt.
See yourself instead as achieving, every step of the way. Feel the sure and solid connection between what you’re doing and the goal you intend to reach.
In fact, every action gets you closer to that goal. So every action is a key part of the achievement.
You deserve success, so go ahead and claim it as you work your way there. Give each thought, each decision, each action the benefit of confidence.
You’re not just trying, after all. You’re allowing the achievement to unfold through your actions.
So keep it up, with the highest of expectations and enthusiasm. Your achievement is already well underway, and you’re sure to make it all happen.
