Today's Gift

Do, or do not. There is no "try." --Yoda, in The Empire Strikes Back

Trying is what we do when we aren't willing to make a commitment. We say, "I'll try," when our heart isn't ready to give a full effort. It's what we say when we can't admit that our resolve is wimpy. And it's the lie that will defeat us.

Some challenges we face can't be conquered simply by saying, "I will do it." But we can choose to do something that will help. We can't move the mountain but we can pick up some rocks. We can engage with the problem and get to know it better. Every action we take leads somewhere and sets us up for the next action. We even learn from our mistakes and that moves us closer to achieving our goal.

Today I will not just "try"; I will do something to move toward my goal.

Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Keep It Simple

Send me the right thought, word, or action. Shaw me what my next step should be. In times of doubt and indecision please send your inspiration and guidance. --Alcoholics Anonymous

The good news of surrendering ourselves and our life to a Power greater than ourselves is that we come into harmony with a Grand Plan, one greater than we can imagine.

We are assured to receive Divine Guidance if we ask for it. What greater gift could we receive than knowing our thoughts, words, and actions are being directed?

We aren't a mistake. And we don't have to control or repress others or ourselves for life to work out. Even the strange, the unplanned, the painful, and those things we call errors can evolve into harmony.

We will be guided into understanding what we need to do to take care of ourselves. We will begin to trust our instincts, our feelings, and our thoughts. We will know when to go, to stop, and to wait. We will learn a great truth: the plan will happen in spite of us not because of us.

Action for the Day: I pray today and each day that my thoughts, words, and actions may be Divinely led. I pray that I can move forward in confidence, knowing my steps are guided.

One Day At A Time

Awakening
As this power began to unfold new selves within me, a greater understanding of my fellowmen began.
With a new awakening each day -- new strengths, new truths, new acceptance of AA people and people not in AA -- a whole new world opened up. And every day it still does.

Excerpt of The Daily Motivator

Power of happiness
by Ralph Marston

Instead of seeking to be happy, be happy. Instead of waiting to be happy, be happy now.

Happiness is not something you must prove or justify. Happiness is not something for you to place conditions upon.

Happiness is yours when you simply allow it. You can do that at any time, in any situation, as often as you choose.

When you choose to be happy with life you choose to be highly effective at living it. You choose to be generous, creative, energetic and inspired.

Happiness feels good, and that’s not a trivial thing. When you feel good about life, about yourself, about others, you can do great things.

Stop resisting the power and possibility of happiness. Be happy, now, and be all you are meant to be.
