Today's Gift

To affect the quality of the day - that is the highest of the arts. —Henry David Thoreau

We are the sculptors of our day. We can mold it creatively into a wonderful masterpiece. We control the amount of moisture we mix into our clay. We pound it, shape it, stroke it, and love it. Others can offer suggestions, and we gain new perspectives from their advice, but it is finally our own creation. Our knife may occasionally slip, or our mixture of earth may be too dry. Any great artist suffers temporary setbacks. Besides, imperfections in art often make it all the more interesting.

How creative can I be in my life today?

Twenty-Four Hours A Day
Keep It Simple
Believe more deeply. Hold your face up to the light, even though for the moment you do not see...Bill W.
At times, we'll go through pain and hardship, At times, we'll have doubts. At times, we'll get angry and think we just don't care anymore. These things can spiritually blind us. But this normal. Hopefully, we'll be ready for those times. Hopefully, we will have friends who will be there for you. Thank your Higher Power for these moments!  Yes, hard times can make our spirits deep and strong. These moments tell us who we are as sober people. These moments help us grow and change. Spirituality is about choice.  To be spiritual, we must turn ourselves over to the care of our Higher Power.

Prayer for the Day:  Higher Power, help me find You in my moments of blindness. This is when I really need You.
Action for the Day:  Today I'll get ready for the hard times ahead. I will list my friends who will be there for me.

One Day At A Time
"Sanity" is defined as "soundness of mind."
Yet no alcoholic, soberly analyzing his destructive behavior,
whether the destruction fell on the dining-room furniture, or his own moral fiber,
can claim "soundness of mind" for himself.
- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 33

Thought to Ponder . . .
I sit at a meeting until the bus of sanity comes by; then, I climb aboard.

Daily Motivation
In each small moment
How do you achieve big results from modest efforts? You persevere in those modest efforts.

Perseverance is really nothing more than acting each time you have the opportunity to act. Perseverance is continuing to do what you've already been doing, and anyone can do that.
Perseverance will bring great, magnificent results. Yet perseverance gets its power from the small, ordinary moments.
Though you may not be able to do a whole lot in just one small moment, there is always something vitally important that you can do. You can keep going.
Through every excuse, every setback, each distraction and each mistake, you can persevere. You will get where you choose to go by staying the course at every opportunity.
On the other side of perseverance is whatever you dare to imagine and intend. In each small moment use the time to persevere, and harvest the great bounty of your own success.
-- Ralph Marston
